Yuhua Tai (platform) had been around for 3000 years. It had been a place for hiking, buddhism ritual practicing over the years. The round, colorful stones found here provided a good religious story. As a result, the temple (Gaozuo Temple) was able to attract more visits than the others in the Six Dynasties.
Yuhua Tai was later ruined in warfare against foreigners attacking from the City South. In 1927, the inter-party conflicts led to the murder of many Communists. After the establishment of the Republic of China, the government developed Yuhua Tai as a "Red" (which means communist related) tourism attraction to commemorate the ones that sacrifice their lives in revolution.
公元前1147年泰伯到这一带教授农算，至此已经3000多年历史。自古以来都是登高望远的地方。三国因为石子众多、色彩斑斓，雨花台又叫石子岗。南朝梁武帝建的众多寺庙中，高座寺建在此地，引来很多僧侣。明清时是金陵四十八景之一。后来雨花台沦落战火之中，成为兵家南入南京城的必夺之地。1927年，国民党统治者在这里处死共产党人和革命志士。新中国成立之后，政府成立烈士陵园纪念牺牲的战士。
