River View Tower is one of the four most famous building in South Yangtze River area. After MING emperor Zhu Yanzhang gave the name to the mountain he hiked (Lion Mountain), he decided to celebrate the beautiful scene he saw on the mountain top. Then he ordered to build this River View Tower, and asked all his staffs major in literature to write about the tower. However, Emperor Zhu didn't actually see the construction project to complete. For some reasons, he stoped the construction just after the workers layout the base.
2011 the tower was finally completed, and opened for public access.
江南四大名楼之一，金陵四十八景之一。明朱元璋下令修建阅江楼，并写《阅江楼记》，还令朝廷文臣们都写一篇1。但是楼搭完地基，朱元璋突然叫停。直到1997年阅江楼才重新继续修建。2001年建成开放。
