Me
Qixia Mountain and Temple used to house the Buddhism center in the NAN BEI Dynasty. In Nan TANG, Qixia Temple carried a relic tower and became biggest buddhism temple in South to Yangtze River area.
In 1983, Qixia started to host research institute for Buddhism. Nowadays, it attracts religious people to visit over weekends. The stone sculpture stored in the temple was from the Six Dynasties, the oldest of its kind.
南齐（489年）建了栖霞寺和千佛岩，梁僧朗曾在此论教，是南北朝时期中国佛教中心。隋唐时期隋文帝在国内建舍利塔，选择栖霞寺为呈佛骨舍利的寺院之一。南唐的时候重建的栖霞寺部分，是今天的石塔功德寺。后来改名为功德寺，成为江南最大的佛寺，天下四大丛林之一。1983年，栖霞寺是汉族地区佛教全国重点寺院，并建有中国佛学院栖霞山分院。
