Chaotian Palance used to be a famous Daoism temple before MING. MING 1384, it was officially called "Chaotian", meaning "to worship the god". Chaotian Palace was then the government agency that train service staffs how to organize big royal festival, and what etiquette to use when meeting the emperor. QING government turned some of the buildings into Confucianism temples and education centers. MIN GUO used the same buildings for the high court. Under the Republic of China, in 1978,Chaotian Palace's site was the old site for Nanjing Museum. Now that the new Nanjing Museum picked a bigger location east to Chaotian Palace, the palace became an independent attraction. Today, people enjoy taking photos and walking casually inside the tourist attraction. However, it was not so popular compared to other attractions nearby, like MING's Palace and Nanjing Museum.
